Automation / Systems Engineer

Salary: £50,000

£55,000 + benefits

We are supporting a global engineering organisation in their search for an experienced Automation / Systems Engineer to join their Northampton operation on a permanent basis.

The Role

Design, develop, and commission automation systems for complex manufacturing and process projects.

Programming and configuring PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.

Provide on-site and remote support for system integration, troubleshooting, and optimisation.

Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and project engineering teams to deliver automation solutions on time and to specification.

Ensure all systems comply with safety, quality, and industry standards.

Experience & Skills Required
  • Proven background as an Automation, Controls, or Systems Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (essential).
  • Experience with Rockwell / Allen‑Bradley systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of automation networking and integration with wider manufacturing systems.
  • Experience working within high‑speed manufacturing, process, or packaging environments is highly beneficial.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • MUST BE HAPPY TRAVELLING INTERNATIONALLY.
