Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audit Assistant Manager to join my clients team in their Manchester offices on a hybrid basis. My client is one of the regions leading independent chartered accountants and business advisers and provide a full-service offering to their clients.

The Role

As an Audit Assistant Manager, you will support the management and delivery of audit assignments from planning to completion, working closely with managers, senior managers, and directors. You will play a key role in coordinating with clients, overseeing audit tasks, and ensuring high-quality work. Additionally, you will mentor and guide junior team members on engagements, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the efficient execution of day-to-day audit operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on-site audits, implementing agreed plan, through to completion, co-ordinating on-site resources, allocating the team to tasks and timescales for completion.
  • Lead on audit quality, ensuring adherence and compliance with company practice and auditing standards
  • Work closely with audit juniors, reviewing their work and supporting them in the development of their role
  • Responsible for on-site audit findings report, identifying and documenting any areas of concern/risks identified by audit team, emphasising relevant messages, and submitting for review
  • Develop good client relationships, in order to adapt approach and communication and ensure client satisfaction
  • Understand the impact on client relationship where there are multiple services offered to the same client and works with the rest of the teams to ensure a great client experience
  • Offer support to team members and across other teams, sharing knowledge as appropriate and personally getting involved
  • We're looking for colleagues who want to learn and expand on their own knowledge identifying where work overlaps; identifying potential areas of conflict and opportunities and taking actions to maximise cross-team working
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Accountant: ACCA/ACA or equivalent qualification
  • Audit Practice Experience: Proven experience in audit and accounts, with a solid understanding of quality and regulatory standards.
  • Risk Awareness: Familiar with risk assessment and effective control measures within the audit process.
  • Client Interaction: Skilled in managing client relationships and addressing their needs effectively.
  • Team Leadership: Capable of guiding and supporting junior staff, fostering a productive team environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Up-to-date with relevant accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and suggest practical solutions.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with CaseWare and CCH is beneficial but not required.
