The Role

M&G Impact & Private Equity is an investment division of M&G Investments that includes over 40 professionals managing $15 billion in assets globally across three dedicated investment teams – Private Equity, Real Assets and Catalyst – along with functional specialist teams such as Portfolio Management, Operational Due Diligence, Sustainability and Product.

The M&G Private Equity team manages a portfolio of over $7 billion invested in more than 300 funds across more than 100 private equity managers worldwide through primary funds, co‑investments and secondaries. A typical investment mix includes closed‑ended fund‑of‑funds, open‑ended semi‑liquid funds and internal accounts.

The M&G Private Equity team is looking to hire an Associate Director of Private Equity to support the investment team in sourcing, underwriting and managing primary fund and co‑investment opportunities, primarily mid‑market buyout funds in Europe and North America (with opportunistic exposure to Asia). This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract providing maternity coverage for an existing investment professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new primary fund commitments and co‑investments, including due diligence, market research, financial analysis, modelling and drafting investment memoranda.
  • Monitor and manage existing portfolio investments, providing performance reports and updates to senior management and investors.
  • Support marketing‑related activities and market research to meet the needs of the investment team and programme.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Experience in private equity and/or private markets is preferable.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical competence, including financial modelling capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation and externally.
  • A conscientious, self‑starter with great attention to detail and the ability to deliver high‑quality outputs.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and working under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Organised, proactive and intellectually curious, with interpersonal skills to thrive in a dynamic team setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a related field; working toward the CFA or a similar qualification is preferred.
