Overview

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an organised and enthusiastic individual to join our Eden team as an Assistant Traffic Management Technician. This is a key support role, helping to deliver a wide range of traffic and road safety schemes across Eden.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation, design and processing of both temporary and permanent traffic schemes. This includes developing works packages for small-scale projects to improve road safety and reduce casualties, introduce parking schemes and other traffic management projects.
  • Support the processing of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), contribute to data collection and analysis, and help with public and stakeholder engagement.
  • This is predominantly an office-based role with some site visits required. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the Highways service and be involved in responding to enquiries, preparing reports, and issuing instructions to contractors.
  • The role is public facing, so strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are essential.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, a team player, and has a flexible approach to work. Excellent customer service skills, and confidence using Microsoft Office and other computer systems are also important.
