Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Berkshire Eating Disorder Service Adult team as a full time Assistant Psychologist. We are recruiting a full time (37.5 hours per week) Assistant Psychologist. Our Assistant Psychologists are highly valued and important members of our team, contributing to the compassionate and professional care of people accessing our service. The role will be varied and include a balance of clinical activities, service-evaluation and project work. The post offers the valuable opportunity to learn from a highly skilled team of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Dieticians and Mental Health Practitioners. We are looking for APs to join our outpatient team with the opportunity to also work in the Day Programme and with the Outreach Team. These vacancies have arisen due to successful career progression of previous postholders.

Responsibilities
  • To provide support to all aspects of the Outpatient, Day Programme and Outreach delivery and to all team members in their activities
  • To provide clinical interventions on a one-to-one basis and to lead and co-facilitate therapeutic groups including implementing behavioural/cognitive programmes.
  • To engage patients in therapeutic activities and interventions as part of their care and treatment plans and to monitor and evaluate progress, refining interventions as necessary.
  • To be involved in service development, quality improvement and audit.
  • The role will be split between St Marks Hospital in Maidenhead and Erlegh House in Reading where you will work closely with a dynamic team to provide a countywide service to people with eating disorders. You might be required to complete visits in the community.

  • The successful applicants will have previous experience of working with people with mental health difficulties.
  • You will be a team-player and thrive in a varied role, using initiative, and demonstrating self-reflection. Excellent communication, time-management and organisation skills are essential.
