Assistant Cook (Sessional)

Contract: Fixed Term until 22 March 2026 (Sessional)
Hours: 32 Hours per week
Start Date: January 2026
Salary: Grade 3 (Points 11 to 18)
£27,839 to £31,283 per annum pro rata (pay award pending/subject to pending job evaluation)

West Lothian College is looking to appoint an Assistant Cook to assist the Team Leader - Catering and Head Cook in delivering the college catering service.

Working within the College’s ‘Campus Café’, you will be required to prepare hot and cold food, and to consider special dietary requirements, undertake counter, shop and till duties and organise trays for buffets. You will also assist with cleaning and washing up, whilst adhering to food safety regulations.

You will be a team player with excellent communication skills and possess a good general education. You will be required to either have an elementary food hygiene qualification and either hold or being willing to work towards SCQF Level 5 - Food Preparation and Cooking.

The shifts are sessional, as follows:

Monday to Thursday 07:00-14:00
Friday 07:00-13:30
