Overview

Are you a finance professional looking for your next challenge? Do you have experience in both transactional finance and month-end processes? Can you bring your skills to a not-for-profit organisation and make a real impact in a close-knit team? If yes, read on!

We are delighted to be partnering with a not-for-profit organisation based near Porthmadog to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. This varied role offers the chance to take ownership of key finance functions, support colleagues across the organisation, and develop in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain the organisation’s financial systems, including journals, budget transfers, and month-end processes.
  • Work closely with department heads to monitor budgets and provide financial insights, supporting a range of financial literacy levels.
  • Assist in preparing annual accounts and liaising with teams to gather required information.
  • Line manage a Finance Assistant, providing guidance and reviewing work where needed.
  • Oversee the payments function, ensuring invoices, credit card expenditure, and payment runs are processed accurately and on time.
  • Manage payroll postings, deductions, reconciliations, and related returns.
Location & Benefits

You’ll be based near Porthmadog, working two days per week from the office with the remainder of your time remotely. Qualifications & Experience
  • Be AAT qualified, degree educated, or working towards a professional finance qualification.
  • Have experience in a finance role, ideally covering both transactional and month-end processes.
  • Possess experience in preparing financial statements, working with Auditors, and managing payroll runs is ideal
  • Be able to hold conversations and read/write in Welsh (essential).
