Job summary

A leading financial recruitment firm is seeking a hybrid Assistant Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities. Responsible for preparing balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset ledger reviews, and intercompany profit files. The ideal candidate has a finance background in a multinational environment and strong communication skills. Experience with month-end reconciliations and a positive attitude are essential. This role is based in Hengoed, requiring 2 days in the office.

Qualifications

  • Experience reconciling the Balance Sheet and closing month-end tasks.
  • Experience working with external auditors and handling enquiries.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Accounting Managers.
  • Assist with posting of month-end journals including accruals and prepayments.
  • Prepare other key reconciliations, such as cash and inventory reconciliations.

Skills

Overview

I am excited to be recruiting for 3 hybrid Assistant Accountants for my global manufacturing client based in Hengoed.

The core responsibility of the Assistant Accountant is to support Accounting Managers with day-to-day accounting activities. Being responsible for preparing balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Accounting Managers, preparing reviews of the fixed asset ledgers to ensure depreciation runs have been correctly executed and updates for additions and disposals correctly made, and preparing Intercompany Profit in Stock files for review by the Accounting Managers. Preparing other key reconciliations, such as cash and inventory reconciliations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Accounting Managers.
  • Prepare reviews of the fixed asset ledgers to ensure depreciation runs are correctly executed and updates for additions and disposals are correctly made.
  • Prepare Intercompany Profit in Stock files for review by the Accounting Managers.
  • Prepare other key reconciliations, such as cash and inventory reconciliations.
  • Assist with posting of month-end journals including prepayment releases, accruals and other key journals, as required.
Key skills / Qualifications
  • Finance background in a multinational environment.
  • Experience in completing key month-end reconciliations and finance processes at month-end in a timely fashion with proactive issue resolution.
  • Experience reconciling the Balance Sheet and closing month-end tasks.
  • Experience posting month-end journals including prepayments, accruals and other key journals.
  • Experience working with external auditors and handling enquiries.
  • Ideally PQ or QBE with a proven background in finance.
  • Able to work hybrid in the office 2 days a week.
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team and able to multi-task.
  • Strong Excel skills; JD knowledge would be an advantage.
