Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

We offer a hybrid approach to working, two days a week in the office and three days a week working from home. Core Hours 9.30am – 3pm, in line with our flexible working policy. A large proportion of our work is based in the UK, so candidates need to be willing and able to travel to these locations for site visits as required.

Role

As an architectural technologist at Hyphen, you should be able to lead and manage architectural projects through all RIBA work stages with relative independence. The ideal candidate will be an intermediate/advanced Revit user and proficient in technical software’s relevant to architectural design such as AutoCAD, Photoshop (or similar) and Microsoft office. Please note: An in-person Revit test will be required prior to offer stage.

Academic Experience
  • Degree in Architectural Technology or similar, Accredited by CIAT
  • Valuable Masters degree
  • ACIAT membership eligible
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, UK

Project Responsibilities
  • Lead a team in the technical delivery of commercial, data centre, retail, residential or industrial projects.
  • Conducting activities and producing outputs in line with relevant legislation and industry standards including drawings, schedules, specifications and reports independently.
  • Undertake surveys and site visits to monitor works, producing detailed drawings, minutes and reports as required.
  • Lead in the production of Building Control, Planning, landlord and other statutory applications.
  • Lead the design team and client meetings, produce detailed meeting minutes.
  • Manage sub-consultants and incorporate their design input as necessary.
  • Manage construction contract administration through the pre-construction, construction and close-out phases.
  • Manage pre-construction Health and Safety in line with CDM 2015 where Hyphen are acting as Principal Designer
  • Management of the construction tendering process.
  • Review drawings from other internal and external team members and produce mark-ups where necessary.
  • Demonstrating commercial awareness and knowledge of project management, including cost/time, budget implications, the recording and recovery of additional fees for design variations.
  • Supervise and mentor project team members.
  • Maintain appropriate project reporting through the Rapport system.
  • Adherence to Hyphen Quality Management System (QMS) and Technical Standards at all times.
  • Other tasks as reasonably required from time to time.
Non-project Responsibilities
  • Ad hoc administration duties.
  • Attend and contribute to office team meetings.
  • Keep up to date with the work of the office and company as a whole
  • Develop appropriate understanding of UK legislation, planning, construction and health and safety.
  • Attend and contribute to office arranged CPD sessions.
  • Manage personal CPD.
