Overview

Architectural Technician — Location: Portsmouth • Salary: £35-42,000

A well-established design practice is seeking an Architectural Technician to join its Portsmouth team. This role offers the chance to play a leading part in delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors. The successful Architectural Technician will take ownership of the technical design process, ensuring projects run smoothly and are executed to the highest standards. Combining technical expertise with design sensitivity, you will collaborate with clients, consultants, and colleagues to deliver practical, innovative, and well-resolved solutions. The role calls for precision, leadership, and the ability to both guide and support project teams within a dynamic studio environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical delivery and coordination of projects from concept through to completion
  • Produce, review, and oversee detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to achieve successful outcomes
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and positive studio culture
Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Architectural Technology
  • Chartered CIAT membership (or working towards) desirable
  • Proven experience in technical design and project delivery
  • Skilled in BIM workflows and proficient with industry-standard software
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamworking abilities
  • Experience across multiple sectors (education, residential, industrial, etc.) advantageous
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live projects
