Job Details: As part of the EMEA IT Architecture Team the role is of the Technical Design Authority and subject matter expert for the IT Infrastructure that supports Cubic Managed Services to deliver exceptional service to high profile clients. The role provides advice and guidance to wider teams within Cubic. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in IT solution design, ensuring fit for purpose and cost effectiveness, managing requirements and delivering high quality technical artifacts.
  • Work with and bring together cross-disciplined technical resources to form effective technical project teams, managing and influencing these resources to ensure fit for purpose solutions are delivered that adhere to best practice and are designed with supportability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, IT Delivery and Test Teams to determine how best to leverage tools and techniques involving infrastructure as code, configuration management and other DevOps-type techniques to improve delivery quality, speed and experience.
  • Manage releases through the Cubic Gateway process including requirements gathering, prototyping, development, testing and deployment in line with IT processes.
  • Act as technical interface (including solution oversight) between customer, project teams and specialist IT teams as required.
  • Work with Manager to define statements of principles and consistent rules to ensure standardization and commonality between systems.
  • Keep up to date with Industry trends and customer requirements, the technology landscape and best practices in order to deliver technical roadmaps and plans that delivers the wider IT and Cubic strategic objectives.
  • Coach, mentor and train where necessary and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Habitually review working practices and performance with a view to improving processes, procedures and general levels of service, ultimately engendering a "continuous improvement" culture resulting in enhanced customer experience and company profitability.
  • Provide specialist support/advice on projects as required.
  • Conduct work effectively, upholding professional standards and in accordance with Cubic policy, goals, processes and standards.
  • Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policies and procedures. In particular, comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Skills, knowledge and experience
  • Strong track record of designing and implementing complex IT related solutions and projects
  • Preferably with a background that spans IT Infrastructure and Software Engineering
  • Practical experience across a wide range of IT systems and technologies, such as server hardware, virtualisation platforms, network and security infrastructure, storage and SAN, databases and public cloud.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and boundless optimism, unwilling to tolerate mediocrity and passionate about being part of a high performing team
  • Significant demonstrable experience with Public Cloud technologies i.e. MS Azure, AWS
  • Experience of developing clear, concise documentation (design, technical and support)
  • Experience of designing and implementing 24/7 transactional systems
  • A strong track record of leadership and influence as this individual will work across the organisation with multiple and varied technical teams to define, design, and drive the development and delivery of complex technical strategy and solutions.
  • PCI-DSS standards knowledge
  • GDPR / Personal Data handling standards knowledge
  • Experience with work with programme and project managers, defining scope, deliverables, resources and timescales.
  • Commercial aware, understand the difference between value and cost.
  • Working with third parties & external teams to deliver complex projects
  • Experience of technical governance, presenting to key stakeholders and driving informed decision making.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer science or relation field or equivalent professional experience or combination of both

Desirable

  • Current driving license and own car for travelling to and from Cubic sites.
