A community support organization in Dundee seeks individuals for the Appropriate Adult role to provide essential communication support to vulnerable individuals during police investigations. The ideal candidates will have experience in mental health and be available for flexible hours. This role promotes independence from police while enhancing legal support.

Carr Gomm are looking for are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us in delivering an Appropriate Adult Service in Dundee, working on a self-employed basis.
The primary objective of the Service is to ensure, as far as possible, that no member of the community is disadvantaged by their mental disorder during any police process.
The role of the Appropriate Adult is completely independent from the Police.
What is an Appropriate Adult?
Appropriate Adults provide communication support to vulnerable victims, witnesses, suspects and accused persons, aged 16 and over, during police investigations and other investigatory bodies as set out in the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 and “the 2019 regulations” Appropriate Adults, Guidance for Local Authorities.
An appropriate adult is not there to give legal advice; this is the role of the solicitor.

We welcome applications from any candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Carr Gomm. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. It is currently our policy not to offer sponsorship for prospective candidates.
