Overview

We are seeking an experienced AML and Sanctions Manager to lead the delivery of sanctions and trade compliance operations across Gallagher Re globally. Working as part of the global Centre of Excellence for Financial Crime and International Trade, and reporting to the Global Head of Sanctions and AML, you will play a critical role in designing and overseeing robust compliance controls.

You will partner with business units to ensure adherence to sanctions, export control, and anti‑boycott laws, while supporting the organisation’s strategic goals. This role involves advising senior stakeholders, managing high‑risk relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust sanctions, export control, and anti‑boycott compliance framework.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in sanctions laws and regulations, providing timely advice to stakeholders.
  • Review business transactions to ensure compliance with sanctions laws and Gallagher policies.
  • Conduct investigations into suspected or actual breaches of sanctions and trade controls (mainly marine and aviation).
  • Perform due diligence, recommend risk mitigation strategies, and support corrective actions.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise for M&A activities, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Obtain necessary licences for licensable transactions.
  • Represent Gallagher Re in relevant industry associations and forums.
  • Lead and develop a diverse and inclusive team, fostering collaboration and excellence.
About You
  • Degree‑level education or equivalent (desired).
  • Extensive experience in sanctions, AML, or trade controls within the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial crime risks, including bribery, corruption, and fraud.
  • Proven ability to balance commercial objectives with regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in a global, matrix‑managed organisation.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel as required (flexible).
