You would be joining us in the role of Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA), delivering a vital service to our patients. Being a ACA is so much more than just driving. It’s about providing safe, reliable and friendly transport to vulnerable patients who need it the most.

It’s a role that requires patience, empathy and resilience as, whilst the role is incredibly rewarding, it can be physically and emotionally demanding. The standard hours for this role are typically 37.5 hours per week. This is a shift-based role, you’ll work as part of a rota covering early mornings, evenings, lates and night shifts, there are fulltime relief lines also available which can fall on any day across the 7-day week, including weekends and public holidays. Shifts will vary, so flexibility is essential. We also welcome interest from candidates who may be looking for part-time hours.

Summary Of Main Duties Include
  • Patient Transport & Care - Safely drive patients to and from healthcare appointments while providing reassurance, support, and compassionate care throughout their journey.
  • Assisting with Mobility - Helping patients with mobility needs, including safe lifting, use of specialist equipment, and transferring patients to and from vehicles or their homes.
  • Communication & Compassion - Communicating clearly and kindly with patients, families, and healthcare staff, maintaining dignity, respect, and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Vehicle Checks & Basic Administration- Carrying out daily vehicle checks, keeping all equipment clean and ready in line with Infection Prevention and Control procedures, and ensuring that any incidents and/or journey details are accurately recorded as required.
