Alternative Provision Teachers – Supply roles in Wigan and surrounding areas, starting ASAP


These flexible opportunities are ideal for Alternative Provision Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will work with pupils who require tailored learning approaches outside mainstream education, supporting their academic progress and personal development.

Duties as Alternative Provision Teacher:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to individual learning needs
  • Create a safe, inclusive environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Work closely with support staff and external agencies to meet pupils’ holistic needs
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting strategies as required
  • Encourage resilience, independence, and social skills development
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
Ideal Alternative Provision Teacher:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching pupils in alternative provision or SEMH settings
  • Strong knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
