Overview
I am looking for an AIT Technician to join my fantastic aerospace client based in Portsmouth. AIT Technician is responsible for the Assembly, Integration and Test of Spacecraft Payloads and active antennas.
Role details
Role: AIT Technician
Pay: 21 - 25 per hour via umbrella (plus shift allowance when on shifts)
Contract: 37 Hours a week, due to project shift and weekend work would be required
Location: Portsmouth
Main activities of role
- Comply with production area Health and Safety requirements and practices, including handling of hazardous substances in accordance with COSHH requirements
- Mechanical integration of payload equipment, connectivity items (coaxial cables and waveguide), test instrumentation (thermocouples, heater circuits and accelerometers), DC harness (connector mating and de-mating), MLI (templating, tailoring and fitting), structural (inserts, riv-nuts, panel repairs) and wiring activities. All achieved via interpreting technical documentation (schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, 2D and 3D General Assembly Drawings, technical notes and integration procedures)
- Electrical test - performing automated test sequences using a Payload Test System, manual RF measurements of payload equipment and sub systems and electrical integration, achieved via interpretation of test procedures and schematics
- Test performance - checking payload equipment performance against parameters detailed in test procedures and reviewing results for non-conformances
- Maintain workspace standards; 5S policy, process confirmation, tool control
- Contribute to team performance activities including Kaizen and SQCDP
- Ensure correct completion of production works orders for all activities performed
- Support movement and lifting operations using overhead crane and other MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment)
Qualifications and experience
- HNC or HND in an engineering production or maintenance field
- Apprenticeship in Aerospace/Space or other high quality production or maintenance field
- Experience in a production environment related to mechanical assembly or electrical/RF test
- Strong Electrical/RF test measurement experience
- Utilisation of automated test systems, including ATE Test Hardware & Software development
- COTS digital test equipment experience
- Problem solving aptitudes
- Clear and confident communication with the team
- Good time management
- Delivering feedback - positive and constructive to local team
- Understand technical documents, drawings, procedures, etc.
- Experience of procedure / process control
- Workplace health and safety awareness
Additional information
Flexibility: Ability to adapt to different working patterns, including off-site work (UK and abroad). Work hours will include various shift patterns per project needs, including but not limited to 2 or 3 shift systems, 4on/4off and weekend working. All shifts offer shift uplifts.
DBS: The successful candidate will be required to apply for and receive a DBS certificate prior to commencement of the contract.
