Job description
Company Description

Cell therapies have been shown to cure devastating and previously untreatable diseases like cancer by re‑programming the patient’s own immune system. Giving more patients access to these life‑saving therapies requires a revolution in manufacturing and process automation. Cellular Origins, a TTP Company, is enabling scalable, cost‑effective and efficient manufacture of cell and gene therapies. Our technology addresses the challenges associated with manufacturing at scale with an elegant robotic manufacturing automation solution that reduces cost and labour, eliminates human error, and increases efficiency.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with an innate feel for precision mechatronic devices to play a crucial role in advancing our mission. You will create robust, manufacturable detailed designs for our robotic manufacturing system and will be given autonomy and responsibility for critical modules to guide us toward stable and reliable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs that are robust and manufacturable for robotic manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct detailed tolerance analyses and use appropriate analytical techniques to support design decisions.
  • Prepare accurate technical documentation to BS8888 standards, including GD&T.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the design process using tools such as FMEA.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet functional, cost, and schedule objectives.
Qualifications
  • A strong background in Mechanical Engineering Design, gained through a degree or vocational route.
  • Proven, hands‑on experience developing and delivering products into manufacture.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, with fast and highly skilled modelling capabilities.
  • Hands‑on experience with complex precision devices ranging from 10’s‑microns to 10’s‑mm length‑scale.
  • Deep experience in material selection and manufacturing method selection.
  • Experience preparing documentation to BS8888, including GD&T.
  • Experience using design tools such as FMEA and strong analytical skills to mitigate risks.
  • Relevant experience in medical devices, consumer product, automotive, aerospace, or digital printing industries.
Benefits
  • Annual bonus
  • 25 days holiday
  • Employer pension contribution of 10% of salary
  • Free lunch and all‑day refreshments
  • Private medical insurance for employees and dependants
  • Enhanced family‑friendly leave
  • Life insurance worth 6× salary
