A UK government agency is seeking an AI Engineer to develop LLM-based applications in Python. This fully remote role requires experience with AWS and Agile methodologies. Responsibilities include maintaining a web API, enhancing product features, and collaborating within a cross-disciplinary team to deliver innovative AI solutions. Candidates must have a strong understanding of data-driven synthetic audiences and emerging AI technologies.
On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for an AI Engineer (Inside/ IR35) for a 6 month contract based REMOTELY.
Note: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position, (and speed at which we require a postholder in situ), preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
The Applied Data & Insight team (ADI) within the Cabinet Office sits at the centre of the Government Communications profession and are formed from a group of multidisciplinary experts from backgrounds in Digital, Data Science, Software Development, Insight & Evaluation, Behavioural Science and Communications working closely together to deliver effective data-driven solutions across government. As part of this, we provide innovative digital products for 6500 Civil Servants across more than 300 public sector organisations.

We are looking for an AI Engineer with experience in developing LLM-based technologies to join ADI. You will work alongside other Developers, Data Scientists, User Researchers and a Product Manager to maintain and further iterate the Assist service. This role, reporting to the Head of AI products, is designed for an enthusiastic and innovative individual who will have the opportunity to help shape and lead a cross-government AI product.
* You will need to be curious about emerging technology and AI trends, including the ability to deliver data-driven synthetic audiences for insight and research.
* You will work within an agile environment, delivering towards weekly sprints.
* You will work in Python (to build the API) with tools including FastAPI, asyncio and SQLalchemy.
* You will also manage code, testing and deployments through GitHub and AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
