A leading healthcare provider in Leicester seeks an Advanced Scientist Dissector to join their Cellular Pathology department. This role involves managing the dissection of complex specimens, training Biomedical Scientists, and ensuring high standards of service delivery. Candidates will contribute to the education of staff and maintain quality standards in line with accreditation requirements. The position requires a relevant degree and extensive experience in pathology, dissection, and staff supervision.
Applications are invited for an Advanced Scientist Dissector to join our committed and enthusiastic team in the Cellular Pathology department in Leicester. The position will be based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the Glenfield Hospital sites.
You will work with colleagues within the Cellular Pathology Department to ensure provision of a high quality Pathology service in UHL. Responsibilities will include specimen dissection and the training and supervision of Biomedical Scientists and junior medical staff in appropriate dissection techniques. You will be recognised as specialist in your field, and as such expert practice will comprise the most significant part of the role.
This post is intended to provide highly specialist dissection of complex specimens in support of the consultant reporting teams within the Cellular Pathology Service. This will involve day to day management of these sections under the direction of the Dissection Lead and consultant teams, ensuring that all aspects of performance, attendance and training are addressed in accordance with Trust Policy.

As part of the role you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check. The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three‑month period commencing on your first month’s payment. The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
