Person Specification

Essential Skills / Qualifications / Experience

Knowledge
  • Degree calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or mathematician. Ideally, working towards professional registration.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of metrology techniques through previous project work. In particular, knowledge and hands-on experience with non-contact metrology methods and the associated analysis. This could include form metrology structured light scanners, laser line scanners or surface metrology techniques such as focus variation, confocal microscopy and interferometry (white light / coherence scanning).
  • Broader knowledge of additional metrology techniques such as tactile measurement (such as CMMs).
  • An understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies and how different technologies may be more appropriate to specific inspection applications. The ability to apply this knowledge to downselection style projects to make objective recommendations on candidate technologies / systems for specific applications.
  • The ability to apply this knowledge to lead validation trials to prove a system's capability for an application. Specifically, experience or awareness of measurement system analysis (MSA) methods.
