A prominent NHS healthcare provider is looking for a co-lead in radioactive substances safety within their Medical Physics Department. This role involves supporting Nuclear Medicine and advising on compliance with regulations, particularly in a dynamic environment. Candidates with RPA and Nuclear Medicine MPE qualifications will be highly valued. This position may require flexible shift patterns, including evenings and weekends.
Medical Physics provides scientific and technical support to a wide range of clinical and laboratory services in the Trust and to external clients. The Radiation Safety and Radiology Physics group provides services to Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, PET and Radiotherapy services including those within GSTT. This post will act as co-lead in the area of Radioactive substances; some involvement in other areas is possible.
You will be based primarily at Guy’s Hospital, working in the Radiation Safety and Radiology Physics Section of the Medical Physics Department, with potential lead work at other Trust locations and for external contracts. The team comprises experienced scientists and technicians whose aim is to ensure the quality, safety and effectiveness of the use of radiation on patients in healthcare.

This role is expected to act as lead RWA. RPA and Nuclear Medicine MPE qualifications are highly desirable. The postholder would likely provide MPE support for Nuclear Medicine for an external client and work closely with the GSTT Nuclear Medicine team and the KCL PET centre team.
