Job summary

Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Enhanced Practitioner Sonographer to join our friendly team at LUHFT. Our ultrasound team works in primary, secondary and tertiary centres across six Liverpool sites, providing a diverse variety of cases throughout our workload. We are a large, busy university teaching Trust with a major trauma unit and multiple specialist medical areas. We pride ourselves on a multidisciplinary approach to acute patient management and diagnosis.

Our sonographers have special interests in gynaecological, hernia, head & neck, testicular, dialysis access, transplant, lithotripsy, vascular and MSK ultrasound. No obstetric ultrasound is performed in our Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical ultrasound duties as delegated by the Ultrasound Manager in charge of the Ultrasound Department.
  • Maintain a high standard of all aspects of ultrasonography.
  • Issue diagnostic ultrasound reports according to protocol.
  • Run own list, manage demand and participate in training.
  • Engage in comprehensive ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, gynaecological, vascular, MSK and small parts, while encouraging the adoption of new techniques and special interests.
  • Collectively undertake CPD activities: regular ultrasound CPD sessions, attendance and presentation at external courses and conferences, and peer‑review audit led by sonographers.
  • Act as a mentor within a training centre framework for new sonographers and support specialist registrars in all aspects of diagnostic ultrasound.
