Job description
Overview

This position as an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist at The Farndon Unit, a hospital operated by Elysium Healthcare, offers the opportunity to shape mental health care for women across different levels of security. You will join an established multidisciplinary team and act as a Responsible Clinician for patients on the newly developed rehabilitation ward and existing level 2 rehab service.

Job responsibilities
  • Working effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure the best care and treatment outcomes
  • Driving multidisciplinary care and leading and managing the CPA and ICR process of reviews
  • Contributing to service development and governance processes e.g. via quality improvement work
  • Building positive relationships with external stakeholders such as ICBs
  • Undertaking psychiatric assessments for women referred to the unit to determine the best fit for their needs
  • Providing oral and written evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings
  • Delivery of evidence-based treatment approaches in line with NICE guidance
  • Medication management
  • Co-production of therapeutic treatment plans with service users
  • Participation in the on-call rota that covers 2 tiers of support to 8 units across the Midlands and Yorkshire regions (remote, mainly telephone support and advice)
To be successful as an applicant you’ll need
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status
  • Clinical training and experience required for gaining UK CCT
  • Experience of assessment and management of patients in psychiatric rehabilitation settings
  • Experience of working with autistic individuals and knowledge of their needs and adjustments required in hospital care
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients

Location: Farndon Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 4SW

You will be working at the Farndon Unit, a hospital offering personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways for women with complex care needs. The unit houses 47 beds across five wards, including low secure care, a high-dependency psychiatric rehabilitation unit, and two acute wards.
