Job description
Job Overview

We are looking for a friendly and organised Receptionist to join our team at Deal Hospital. You will be the first point of call for patients visiting our urgent treatment centre, booking patients into all computer systems, supporting the senior team with admin tasks and informing staff of any concerns about patients waiting. The role may also require working shifts at Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and direct phone calls from patients and staff.
  • Book patients into computer systems and manage patient flow.
  • Assist senior team with administrative tasks.
  • Communicate any patient concerns to relevant staff.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve).
Qualifications and Skills
  • 2+ GCSE’s A‑C (or equivalent) and at least one IT qualification within the last 10 years; if not, willingness to undertake NVQ qualifications.
  • Proven experience in a busy patient/public focused environment.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on initiative.
  • Full UK driving licence where driving is a requirement of the role.
Working Pattern & Benefits
  • Additional working pattern: 4 x 6 hours.
  • Commutes across the Kent and Medway area – role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB).
