Administrative Assistant / Social Media Manager - Portsmouth

If you have strong administration and social media experience, we have the perfect opportunity for you at Portsmouth Vets for Pets for you to join the team as an Administrative Assistant / Social Media Manager! We're a busy, small animal practice with a friendly and dedicated team, where every team member is valued, supported, and encouraged to have a real impact on the way we work.

This is a full-time role (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm). We can offer flexibility for the right candidate so please let us know if you have specific requirements.

In this position your main duties will be administration and social media management however you will be required to support the receptionist team and cover the occasional shift. You'll be the welcoming face of the practice, supporting our clients and their pets while also helping us share our story online.

Key responsibilities include :

Social Media & Admin
  • Creating and posting engaging social media content
  • Ensuring GDPR compliance across social channels
  • Managing email enquiries and filing
  • Updating policies and procedures
  • Handling calls, bookings, and general reception duties
Reception & Client Care
  • Providing exceptional client service and a warm welcome to every visitor
  • Building strong relationships with clients, their pets, and our team
  • Managing payments, bookings, and debt management processes
  • Coordinating smooth day-to-day practice operations
What We're Looking For
  • Reception / customer care experience (veterinary experience is a bonus, but not essential - training provided)
  • Strong administration and IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, with a compassionate and professional approach
  • A confident multi-tasker with great organisation and attention to detail
  • Someone who enjoys being busy, helping people and pets, and making a positive difference
