Overview

Job Title: Temporary Cluster Driver - Van
Location: Colchester
Pay Rate: £13.94p/h
Shift Pattern: Ad hoc - casual hours across the year
Shift Times: Flexible to work between 08:00 - 20:00
Working Hours: Casual work throughout the year

Role Summary

Manpower are looking for a Van Delivery Driver to work for our client based in Colchester. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing company, working in brand-new facilities with top-of-the-line equipment, while making a positive environmental impact.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working order and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Regular vehicle maintenance and reporting of any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Drive the vehicle safely and efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and all safety regulations.
  • Safely load and unload cargo and secure it according to safety regulations.
  • Deliver fresh cooking oil to the catering/restaurant trade and collect used cooking oil.
  • Process payments for oil and maintain accuracy of cash/pre-paid cards as required.
  • Communicate with dispatch and customers to provide delivery updates and address issues during transport.
  • Accurately record information following oil delivery/collection (e.g., completion of Waste Transfer Notes).
  • Report missed or failed deliveries daily to the Microsite Manager.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with customers and prospective customers, assisting with sales efforts when required.
Requirements
  • Driving Licence & Clean Record: Valid UK driving licence with no points or endorsements.
  • Van Driving Experience: Proven experience driving vans in the UK, with a solid understanding of road laws and regulations (6 months minimum).
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with the Transport Office, customers, and other drivers.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Friendly, positive attitude with willingness to engage with customers to enhance their experience.
  • Sales Experience (Desirable): B2B sales experience and achieving sales targets in a driving role would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of vehicle safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Ability to handle unexpected situations and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail when handling documents.
  • Reliability & Flexibility: Strong work ethic with flexibility over hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
