Overview

Actuaries use maths and statistics to help us predict and manage risks. This helps us understand when our customers might need our support. Our actuarial apprenticeship programme will help you learn how to analyse data, assess risks and create models to drive intelligent decision-making. You'll work alongside expert actuaries and use your numerical, team-working, communication and interpersonal skills while working on our products, pricing or reserving.

Responsibilities
  • Figuring out risks and how much things should cost.
  • Build models to predict future outcomes.
  • Calculate the cost of life insurance policies based on different scenarios.
  • Create reports to share your findings.
  • Make sure everything follows the rules.
  • Give advice on smart ways to invest and plan finances.
  • Keep an eye on insurance programmes to make sure they stay strong.
What you can look forward to
  • Use actuarial tools to analyse data and calculate the likelihood and costs of certain events.
  • Improve your communication skills and enhance your ability to plan, prioritise, analyse, and understand the professional landscape.
  • Engage in daily activities like solving problems, building and coding models, creating and editing Excel spreadsheets, analysing data, and providing insights.
  • Learn about mathematical concepts related to insurance. Your specific tasks will depend on your strengths and the needs of the team.
Eligibility and qualifications
  • Full right to work and reside in the UK - Due to government regulations, we cannot accept applications from those who require a visa to live and work in the UK. You must have the indefinite right to live and work in the UK and have resided here for a minimum of three consecutive years.
  • Minimum of three A Levels at A-C (or equivalent), including an A or A in maths
  • A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including Maths and English.
  • A professional attitude with a positive 'can do' approach to your work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships
  • Strong IT skills, knowledge of Excel is preferable (but not essential)
  • Comfortable with maths and a logical mindset
  • Appetite to learn
  • Effective personal planning and organisation
