Overview

Acoustics and Signature Analyst – Full Time, On-site. Derby, Raynesway.

An exciting opportunity to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby as an Acoustics and Signature Analyst. As an analyst in the Signature Group you will primarily deliver acoustic predictions using engineering analysis/CAE (e.g., FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers), develop associated methods and toolsets, and support Validation and Verification (V&V) activities. You will support in-build and future programmes. The Signature Group is responsible for assessing the signature performance of the plant and providing recommendations for improving performance, and also supports technology development, capability and testing programmes.

What you will be doing

You will be conducting acoustic analysis/CAE (e.g., FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers) and providing advice and guidance to the boat programmes:

  • Strategic thinking to build on the business vision for the future of the signature capability.
  • Liaising with customers and various stakeholders in the signature community.
  • Undertaking work relating to analysis/CAE, analysis methods development including V&V and uncertainty qualification.
  • Supporting product V&V through relevant testing or commissioning programmes.
  • Providing technical guidance in the design process.
  • Driving continuous improvement through the business to develop capability and improvements to design.

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.

  • An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and with our customer.
  • Experience of research and development, analytical and test validation activities.
  • Desire to actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvements (tools, processes and methods) within and outside the immediate sphere and prompt action across the wider team and organisation.
