Overview

Belmont Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Payments Assistant to join a busy finance team within a local authority. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative and financial processing skills to support the delivery of accurate and efficient payment services.

This is a temporary contract for 3 months with a view to extend, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Process invoices, payments, and expenses accurately within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with Council policies and procedures.
  • Resolve payment queries by liaising with suppliers, staff, and other departments.
  • Support month-end processes and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of financial systems and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements, and data protection.
Person Specification - Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience in an administrative or finance-related role.
  • Ability to organise workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.

Location - Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke on Trent (Hybrid working arrangements).
