Are you looking for a challenging role where you can make a difference?

In a city facing unprecedented financial challenges, Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic individual who can demonstrate the expertise, determination, and unwavering resilience required to work within the Accommodation Finding Team securing alternative private rented accommodation.

Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority social landlord in Europe, with a stockprofile of just under 60,000 properties. The Housing Solutions Service is the front door for citizens at risk of homelessness and those in housing crisis. Our overarching strategic priority is to reduce temporary accommodation usage and move people on to secure accommodation.

Due to the limited supply of affordable housing in the city, the Accommodation Finding Team work with private landlords by offering them a range of incentives to encourage them to work with us to provide suitable private rented accommodation for households faced with homelessness.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of maximising the growth of Private Rented Sector properties and alternative housing solutions by building on networks and developing exceptional relationships with Private Landlords, Housing Associations, and other housing providers. It is desirable that you have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle as without a vehicle this may limit the amount of visits you can conduct.

Key Attributes:
  • Source and secure suitable accommodation in the Private Rented Sector for households facing homelessness, ensuring all placements meet statutory and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate property records and contribute to the development of property standards, policies, and best practice.
  • Build strong partnerships with private landlords, housing associations, and accommodation providers to expand our housing options.
  • Negotiate proactively to secure sustainable, affordable housing solutions that meet the needs of vulnerable households.
