You will provide medical support on match days, at evening clinics, and during tournaments, ensuring optimal care and performance outcomes for academy players. This role will also support the implementation of injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation programmes, helping players to recover effectively and minimise injury risk. Importantly, you will contribute to the smooth and effective transition of players from FP/YDP into the Professional Development Phase (PDP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical cover for FP and YDP players during match days (primarily Sundays, with some midweek fixtures), evening clinics, and domestic/international tournaments.
  • Support the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries in collaboration with the full-time U9–U16 physiotherapist.
  • Deliver and contribute to injury prevention programmes tailored to individual and group player needs.
  • Liaise with coaching staff to support player load management at key development stages.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, external medical providers, and internal staff to ensure seamless care.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records on the PMA system, ensuring effective handovers between staff.
  • Assist in transitioning players from FP/YDP to PDP by sharing relevant medical and movement histories.
  • Contribute to CPD initiatives, research, and professional development in paediatric sports medicine.
Essential Requirements
  • BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation.
  • Membership of a recognised governing body (CSP, SST, BASRaT).
  • FA Level 4 ITMMiF qualification.
  • Previous experience in a sports medicine environment.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Desirable Requirements
  • FA Level 5 ATMMiF.
  • Experience and understanding of paediatric sports medicine.
