Job description
Overview

We are looking for an experienced Childrens Nurse to transition into the role of paediatric coordinator. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop both your managerial and leadership skills whilst maintaining your clinical competencies. As Paediatric Coordinator, you will have an overview of the service from both a clinical and operational perspective on each shift. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to effectively manage each patient's journey through the organisation. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will communicate with patients and their families, liaise with colleagues at all levels, external agencies and provide daily reports to the senior leadership and site teams. You must be organised and able to make sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the patient journey through the Children's Services Pathways, including but not exclusively, the Paediatric Emergency Department, Children's Assessment Unit, Children's Ward, Neonatal Unit and Children's Community Nursing Team.
  • Monitor and escalate the ED 4-hour target.
  • Support clinical practice where required to alleviate pressures created by acuity and volumes of patients within Children's Services.
  • Respond in a supporting capacity to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Provide the senior leadership team with information about staffing, staff movements, and bed occupancy daily.
  • Liaise with the site team/matrons for escalation.
  • Respond to referrals from outside agencies with signposting to the relevant department.
  • Support data collection and audits.
  • Assist with service improvement plans and contribute to the development of the role.
  • Signpost and refer service users as needed; demonstrate flexible team-working skills to work independently and across multiple clinical areas.
  • Support the delivery and achievement of high standards of clinical practice across the Children's service pathway.
  • Engage in ongoing opportunities to contribute to a dynamic and varied daily work pattern.
