Overview

Our client is a multinational corporation, a global leader in the Energy management & technology industry, specializing in providing innovative solutions for energy efficiency, sustainability, and automation across various industries.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Export Control Manager in Classification & Jurisdiction & Licensing to drive the Export Control Program & Compliance (through frequent trainings, stakeholder engagement and management, monitoring & communicating of regulatory changes), reporting to the EMEA Director for Export Control & International Sanctions, as a member within the Global Export Control CoE.

Responsibilities
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on EMEA export control & sanctions regulations related to Export Control Jurisdiction and Classification and Licensing requirements, developing and enhancing the company’s global Export Control program, leading, coordinating, or supporting export control classification related projects and activities for EMEA, and acting as the point of contact for export control related government agencies and authorities as applicable.
  • Conduct and support reviews and audits at company sites, generate reports to senior management, and lead improvement activities. Develop and provide advice for procedures ensuring adherence to export control and sanctions related regulations, as well as perform training of personnel at all levels on a frequent basis, advising sites on new regulations and how they affect business processes.
  • Work closely with company sites appointed/management personnel and Export Control Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) to ensure continuous improvement of all export control-related systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Support and advise on internal investigations and promptly report results to company management, and provide guidance in cross-functional projects relating to export control and sanctions as applicable to J&C and Licensing. Identify and report potential violations and incidents involving weaknesses in processes or procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance to management on export control and sanctions compliance matters and requirements, including preparation and submission of licenses and agreements, and advising on the implementation of technology control plans and related procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain and assist with the implementation of corporate export controls and sanctions related policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide advice on required export control licenses, agreements, shipping documents and other documentation for accurate compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide support for ad-hoc export control & sanctions projects (e.g., M&A and Divestment, Classification, etc.), across Corporate and Cross-Region/Country teams as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 10–15 years of detailed experience and extensive knowledge in EU and International Export Control & Sanctions related regulations (including Classification, Licensing, Reporting and Export Program development & management), preferably in a multinational company. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required, up to 25%.
  • Extensive expertise in global classification processes and management, with a focus on defining, modifying, and executing classification strategies to ensure compliance with export control regulations worldwide. Strong understanding of export control regulations and guidelines, with expertise in classification methodologies and best practices.
  • Proven leadership experience, able to effectively manage teams and drive results.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and execute strategies effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (with proficiency in English and legal vocabulary) as well as interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; Advanced Degree preferred. Proficiency with MS Office applications.
