We're looking for a detail-oriented and experienced remote Senior Accountant to join our client’s finance team. Our client’s business is based in the USA and is a collective of premium brands in the tattoo, pet and beauty industry.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a career-driven professional with a background in distribution or manufacturing (preferred). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership abilities, effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
This is a 3-month-long freelancing trial contract (full-time) that can be done remotely at home with a computer and a fast and reliable internet connection. After the evaluation period, the candidate will be reviewed and may be subject to further contract renewal.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Oversee accounting operations with a comprehensive understanding of GAAP, including reviewing accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies.
- Participate in the monthly financial close process by preparing work-in-process reports, analyzing expense and accrual accounts, and contributing to consolidation reporting packages and year-end external financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to evaluate past and future performance, including variance analysis between current and prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
- Perform cost accounting functions such as variance analysis, program profitability assessments, and updating standard costs.
- Ensure accurate classification of expenses by reviewing invoice coding and cost center allocations.
- Collaborate with external auditors by preparing and providing requested documentation.
- Partner with other departments to gather information on project progress and purchase commitments.
- Prepare general ledger adjustments, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, scalability strategies, and documentation of the control environment.
- Lead or participate in special projects involving financial research, modeling, equipment management, and ERP system implementation. Take ownership and leadership of assigned tasks and projects.
- Perform additional duties that support the company’s vision, mission, and values.
Requirements
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- At least 4+ years of proven accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in multi-entity retail and distribution business a big plus
- TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
- Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
- Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills to convey complex financial information to all levels of management.
- Advanced proficiency and skills with Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to train and mentor others.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork across departments.
- REQUIREMENTS FOR REMOTE WORK
- Eligible to work as a remote freelancer legally or as a contractor based in the Philippines
- Has own computer or laptop capable of handling the demands of big data and financial, number crunching.
- Has a fast and reliable internet connection at home (at least 100-200 MBPS)
- Has a quiet and distraction free work environment at home.
- Willing to work in graveyard shifts or changing shift schedules.
- Must be able to maintain consistent availability during US and UK hours. Remote, work-from-home, full-time freelancer, contractual position
- HOURS OF WORK
- 40 hours a week, guaranteed shift schedule
- 8:30PM to 5:30PM Mondays to Fridays Pacific Time USA
- Daily Breaks: 1 hour
- US Holidays off and unpaid.
- PH Holidays are normal working days (during the trial period).
- Any overtime needs to be pre-approved by the client.
- COMPENSATION: $11 to $13 USD Per hour
- CONTRACT: This is a 3-month long freelancing trial contract (full-time) that can be done remotely at home with a computer and a fast and reliable internet connection. There are no benefits for Freelancers during the evaluation period.
- POSSIBLE RENEWAL: If the Client decides to renew the contract there may be certain benefits such as paid sick leaves, paid vacation leaves, HMO health insurance and 13th month pay. These are not guaranteed and everything will depend on performance and client discretion.
- REPORTING TO: You will report to the designated manager from our client, and will also be supervised by Big Ideas Social Media Inc, the consultant and service provider (Agency) of the US business. Big Ideas will provide your compensation and other HR and administrative needs locally.
- LEGAL STATUS: You will be classified as “Self-Employed” for legality and taxation. You will not be considered an employee of our Client or Big Ideas Philippines but will be a self-employed freelance professional and will be liable for declaring your own income with the BIR and taxes.
