Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

The Exploration Company (TEC) is seeking a Government Affairs Officer to strengthen our engagement with national and European space and defence institutions. and develop our business with public institutions.

This role operates transversally across all European markets, supporting TEC’s institutional strategy, stakeholder engagement, and participation in public programs.

The Government Affairs Officer will work closely with the regional leads for Public Affairs to ensure consistent messaging, policy alignment, and efficient knowledge sharing across TEC’s government business activities.

This is a high-impact role at the interface of government affairs, institutional strategy, and business development, contributing directly to TEC’s mission of advancing Europe’s strategic autonomy in space.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Institutional Coordination
  • Monitor and analyze European and national policy developments, funding programs, and defense initiatives relevant to TEC’s roadmap.
  • Provide cross-country institutional intelligence, enabling early engagement with ministries, space agencies, and defense bodies.
  • Support the Chief Government Officer in developing TEC’s European-level positioning on commercial space, reusability, and dual-use innovation.
  • Contribute to TEC’s participation in industry and policy networks (e.g. ESA, DLR, EU institutions, BDLI, BDI, Defense & Space associations).
2. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Manage the preparation of briefings, positions papers, talking points, presentations and official correspondence for TEC leadership engagements.
  • Coordinate TEC’s participation in European and national events, conferences, and institutional meetings.
  • Assist in organizing political visits, parliamentary briefings, and institutional delegation tours at TEC sites.
Your Profile
  • 1-3 years of experience in the space, defence, or aerospace industry, preferably in an institutional, policy, or business-facing role.
  • Strong understanding of the European institutional landscape (ESA, DLR, EU programs, national ministries, defence agencies).
  • Proven experience in public affairs, business development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage confidently and diplomatically with senior government officials.
  • Fluent in English and one major European language (German, French, or Italian); additional languages are a plus.
  • Proactive, structured, and capable of working across cultures and disciplines in a fast‑paced, international environment.
