Astroscale France is growing its Toulouse office and is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex space missions and related developments in the field of in-orbit servicing and space sustainability.
You will work within a small, highly integrated team, coordinating matrixed engineering functions across disciplines (systems, payload, software, AIV, operations, ground) and interfacing with external partners, suppliers customers across the European space ecosystem.
This role is suited to a delivery-focused Project Manager who can translate mission objectives into an executable plan, control cost/schedule/risk and create the conditions for engineering teams to perform at their best.
Areas of responsibility
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of complex space missions. To be achieved via the coordination of matrixed project / engineering teams.
- Planning and delivery of project review gates, including management and production of associated deliverables.
- Define and maintain an appropriate balance of quality, cost, schedule, and risk, whilst delivering projects and their associated deliverables.
- Generate project inputs to mission concept studies, technical or non-technical packages of work, and bid work, in support of the wider business.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and programme partners as necessary in support of project, bids, or similar activities.
- Report and be internally accountable to business and senior management.

Required Competencies, Experience and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in project/programme management in space, aerospace, or similarly complex high-reliability engineering domains.
- Demonstrated delivery experience across technical projects, including schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder management.
- Hands-on experience producing and maintaining core PM artefacts: IMS, WBS, reports, risk register, action tracking, financial reporting, and review documentation (including contractual deliverables when applicable).
- Experience planning and conducting formal review gates (e.g., SRR/PDR/CDR and equivalents).
- Ability to work effectively with Systems Engineering and understand key SE outputs (architecture, CONOPS, requirements, verification approach).
- Working level understanding of spacecraft project interfaces (e.g., AOCS, C&DH, software, payload/sensors, ground segment, operations).
- Awareness of AIV/AIT/AIVT principles (integration and test flow, environmental testing, verification/validation).
- Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
- Eligible to work in France/EU and able to obtain French security clearance (as required by certain projects).
Desirable
- Full mission lifecycle experience through commissioning and operations.
- Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Familiarity with ECSS (or equivalent) engineering/product assurance frameworks and configuration management.
- Experience recovering challenged projects (schedule slips, cost overrun, supplier underperformance).
- Bid/proposal support experience (ROM estimates, planning assumptions, risk pricing).
- Knowledge of debris removal / in-orbit servicing domain, including regulatory and licensing considerations.
- Experience in international/cross-cultural project environments.
