The Department of Art History and Fine Arts consists of a major in Art History and a major in Fine Arts. We also welcome minors in art history, fine arts, and visual culture. The Fine Arts section is particularly involved in the university's Liberal Arts program by offering students from other disciplines an opening to its specific creative and reflective methodologies. Exchanges with other disciplines are encouraged, as well as the opening of Fine Arts to the Applied Arts. Students who choose this Major develop a solid base in art history, learn and practice a wide variety of media, and deepen their knowledge of materials and techniques. Students are invited to acquire and explore creative methodologies and to develop their skills in critical thinking, such that they become autonomous and informed creative producers. This aspect of the program is facilitated by the small size of the classes and by exchanges and debates within the university and with visiting artists. Regular visits to exhibitions, museums and workshops in Paris and throughout Europe expand classroom offerings.
The University is an equal opportunity employer for whom diversity is an essential source of vitality and strength, and we strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
