Overview

The Maintenance Worker performs skilled and limited semi-skilled manual work in trash collection, grounds maintenance, and/or apartment renovation. Reports to the Property Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Load truck with rubbish and debris such as household trash, discarded furniture and appliances, shrubbery and tree cuttings, and debris left in vacated apartments; Collect trash by hand and using tools such as rakes, shovels and cans; Transport debris to the landfill.
• Drive a 1.5-ton truck on regular routes and special pickups; Perform routine maintenance service on truck (oil level, tire pressure, coolant, etc.)
• Dig and cover holes and trenches for plumbing repairs.
• Clean out storm and sanitary drains, ditches, and manholes with hoses, cables, rakes, and shovels.
• Plant trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and other plants; Apply fertilizers and herbicides.
• Mow grass; Prune and trim trees, shrubbery, and hedges; Remove small dead trees and cut up larger trees; Clean and remove debris from yards, grounds, and parking lots; Grade slopes with rakes and shovels for erosion control; Spread sand in the event of snow.
• Move heavy objects such as appliances, air conditioners and furniture; Assist with appliance installation.
• Wash walls, ceilings, cabinets, doors, windows and woodwork; Perform basic surface preparation for painting; Clean floors and assist in repairing vinyl floor tile.
• Replace HVAC filters according to schedule provided.
• Provide manual labor assistance to other crews as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Any combination of training and education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• 6 months’ experience in general labor work.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to pass drug screen and criminal background check.

Salary Starting range based on experience – Starting at $13.00-$14.00
