A leading research institute in France is seeking a researcher to evaluate and optimize carbonation processes. The candidate will work on multi-scale investigations of carbonation mechanisms and CO2 valorization. A PhD in HP/HT processes is required, alongside strong autonomy, teamwork, and presentation skills. This role offers a full-time contract with responsibilities including experimental execution, results analysis, and participation in article writing.

The objective of the CASSOULET project concerns the evaluation, the intensification and the optimization of carbonation (biotic and abiotic) processes involving different feedstocks, to address three different applications of industry decarbonation, in straight relation with energy generation, CO2 sink building materials synthesis and materials recycling. In the frame of this project, the recruited researcher will specifically work on: (i) the multi-scale investigations of (bio)carbonation and process development (scale-up) from microfluidics to pilot scale and on (ii) the CO2 (bio)valorization of iron-bearing materials to carbonates along with energy production (H2 and CH4).
Created in 1995, the Bordeaux Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry (ICMCB) focuses its research on Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemistry and Process: designing, preparing, shaping and characterizing materials in order to discover, control and optimize specific functions. The ICMCB carries out fundamental research on model materials and/or materials with potential applications. The ICMCB is a UMR with an average of 280 agents (permanent and non-permanent), with 3 tutelles, hosted by the CNRS and in total ZRR. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PSTP), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that the arrival of the agent be authorized by the competent authority of MESR.
The candidate must hold a PhD in HP / HT processes. Training in the physico-chemistry of materials would be a great plus. He/she must demonstrate a high level of autonomy in his/her work and be able to work as part of a team with the group's students and engineers. Good adaptability and creativity will be necessary to carry out the work as well as ease in presenting results both orally and in writing.
