About the Company

Our client is a US Global Industrial Manufacturer.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel (“CLC”), this position will serve as a trusted legal advisor to the company's industry segments doing business in EMEA on a variety of legal matters, with a principal focus on reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, supporting commercial strategies, assisting with disputes and litigation, as well as supporting the implementation of the Group Compliance program in Europe, with a focus on competition law and data privacy.

About the Role

Ability to work in areas of law and jurisdictions the candidate is not specialized in. The successful candidate will have at least three (3) years of legal experience gained in a sophisticated law firm environment or a prominent in-house legal department, with experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements or advising on other transactional matters.

Responsibilities
  • With the assistance of the CLC, partnering collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and developing strong partnerships with operating leaders by providing excellent customer service and facilitating efficient resolution of legal questions.
  • Assisting with disputes and litigation, as needed.
  • Supporting the CLC with the implementation of the Group Compliance program in Europe, with a focus on competition law and data privacy.
  • Providing legal counsel to operating leaders that effectively supports the business operations and growth and profit objectives while mitigating risk.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating (under the supervision of the CLC) a wide range of commercial contracts and related arrangements, including customer and supplier terms & conditions and supply agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assisting the CLC in developing training materials and delivering training to operating leaders on critical legal issues (including competition law).
  • Coordinating seamlessly across all matters to obtain appropriate input from other subject matter experts within the Legal Department (i.e., Ethics & Compliance, Litigation, IP, Risk Management, Trade Compliance, etc.).
  • Managing outside counsel as needed on specialized legal matters (including litigation in the EMEA region).
  • Providing support on special projects and conducting relevant legal research (as needed), as requested by the CLC and / or operating leaders of applicable business segments.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified lawyer in an EU country.
  • At least three (3) years of legal professional experience in a reputable law firm or prominent in-house legal department with profound experience in French civil law.
  • Fluent in English and French.
  • Additional experience or language skills from Italy, the Netherlands, Central / Eastern Europe, or the Nordics is required.
  • Flexible and willing to work on a broad range of legal matters and in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who is collegial, flexible and able to multi-task while working in a fast paced and demanding global team environment providing timely responses to meet expectations of supported persons and business units.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively with a sense of urgency.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and values collaboration.
  • Available for moderate travel within Europe and to the U.S. occasionally.
  • Availability in person at the Paris corporate office to meet the demands of the role.
