Overview
As part of the Accor Group's Corporate Legal Department and based in Accor’s headquarters (Issy-les-Moulineaux), the Junior IP Legal Counsel will join the 5-person IP team (lawyers and paralegals) in a highly international context. Under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel Intellectual Property, the Junior IP Legal Counsel actively contributes to deploying Accor’s global IP strategy by managing, protecting, and defending the Group’s IP assets, including a vast worldwide portfolio of over 10.000 trademarks covering PM&E and Luxury hospitality brands (Orient Express and Lifestyle brands excluded), Corporate, Loyalty, Distibution Platforms and Global F&B brands.
Responsibilities
- Trademark Portfolio Management: Manage, protect, and defend the Group’s global trademark portfolios, in close collaboration with paralegals and central agents: prior search analysis, gathering evidence of use, oppositions, project validation, etc. Develop and implement IP protection (filings, monitoring, enforcement) and portfolio streamlining strategies.
- Pre-Litigation & Litigation: Monitor and manage IP pre-litigation and litigation (e.g., formal notices, revocation/invalidity/infringement actions, notice & take down), in demand and defense.
- Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of IP-related contracts (e.g., assignment, license, coexistence, settlements) and clauses.
- Legal Advice & Support: Provide IP legal advice and support to internal teams to secure their projects.
- Budget & Agent Coordination: Monitor associated IP budgets & expenses. Efficiently instruct and coordinate external central trademark agents.
- Team Supervision: Supervise an intern.
- Awareness & Best Practices: Promote IP awareness and disseminate best practices through internal communications, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing (IP reports, guidelines, Intranet updates).
Qualifications
- Master of Law degree
- Specialization via M2 and/or LLM in Intellectual Property law
- 3 years' previous IP legal experience in-house and/or in private practice (trademark agent or international law firm)
- Experience in worldwide IP portfolio management
- Previous education/professional experience abroad appreciated
- Language Proficiency: FLUENT written and spoken English (main working language) & French.
- Organizational & Project Management: Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Business Acumen & Adaptability: Pragmatic, agile, with a keen understanding of business challenges and the ability to handle a wide range of subjects.
- Autonomy & Responsiveness: autonomous, proactive, and quick to respond.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player, able to communicate effectively and build strong partnerships in a fast-paced, international, and multicultural environment.
