Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled User Terminal RF & System Engineer to contribute to the definition, specification, validation, transfer to production and type approval strategy of Eutelsat Group’s user terminals. You will work closely with systems engineering, technical and commercial product management, and system integration program management groups, contributing directly to ongoing projects and initiatives. Who You Are
An experienced professional with a background in systems engineering, technical product management, regulatory certification, end-to-end system integration and troubleshooting, and technical development program management, ideally within the Satellite Communications industry.
What You’ll Do
The candidate will be part of the Eutelsat Group User Terminal (UT) Engineering, Development and Production team within the Systems Engineering group. You will contribute to Eutelsat efforts, collaborate with systems engineering, development programs and product management teams (internal and external) and support recruitment to build the UT teams that will own the following capabilities:
- Represent the Eutelsat Group Systems Engineering team in UT Development & Product Requirement/Specification, owning work packages as applicable
- Collaborate with the IRIS2 UT System Architect to define technical UT requirements based on Use Cases & market requirements
- Provide Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for UT architecture design reviews and deliver technical solutions for UT development challenges
- Review and ensure UT development fulfills the UT PRD
- Translate and align IRIS2 market requirements, system CONOPS and technical product requirements
- Own, review and manage processes defining User Terminal product specifications
- Provide UT Technical Product Management expertise and help define UT HW and SW Architecture
- Support the UT Type Approval process to ensure product requirements are met
- Be accountable for third-party contractual relationships where applicable (SOW, contract, budget and schedule management, reporting to program office and IRIS2 stakeholders)
- Coordinate with engineering leads, product/program management, partner ecosystem and end-customer teams to ensure acceptance testing and validation meet schedule and quality requirements
Area of Expertise Required
- Deep understanding of: Antenna subsystem, RF subsystem, Signal processing, DSP, Modem, Electronics or PCB design and UT Architecture
- Ability to map technical requirements to UT segment architectures and subsystems
- Experience liaising with supply chain and 3rd party vendors for UT designs
- Creating verification/validation/test plans and leading IVV campaigns
- Understanding of 3GPP, 5G, NTN architectures and definitions
- Desirable: Beamforming networks (analog, digital, hybrid), 3GPP or Satcom Air Interface & Waveforms
Additional Qualities
- Exposure to Product development life cycle
- Experience consolidating product requirements and use-case analysis (methodologies/tools)
- Technical specification definition from Use case to User Terminal Specifications
- Experience deriving technical requirements from system requirements down to subsystems
- Repeated emphasis on antenna/RF/UT architecture knowledge
- Ability to map technical requirements into UT architectures and designs
- Experience liaising with supply chain and 3rd party vendors for UT designs
- Creating verification/validation/test plans and leading IVV campaigns
- Understanding of 3GPP, 5G, NTN architectures
- Desirable: Beamforming networks (analog, digital, hybrid), 3GPP or Satcom Air Interface & Waveforms
What It Takes
- 8-10+ years of experience in User Terminal development, certification & Systems Engineering, ideally in Satellite Communications
- Experience in systems engineering requirement generation, testing and validation for user terminals across segments (land mobility, maritime and/or aeronautical)
- Hands-on experience with satellite user terminal technology & troubleshooting
- Degree in Telecommunications, Satellite Communications or Computer Science with emphasis on wireless communications, or equivalent experience
- Technical product or program management experience
- Hands-on work managing complex wireless technology deployments
- Experience working with engineering teams in satellite or cellular tech
Where You’ll Be
- Ideally based in Paris, France or Torino, Italy (headquarters locations)
- Flexible in-office and remote work
- International travel required
