A global ship management company based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is seeking a Head of Yacht Operation to oversee yacht fleet supervision and operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in yacht management, excellent communication skills, and expert knowledge of industry regulations like ISM/ISPS. You will directly manage operational processes, budgets, and ensure compliance, working within a diverse environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead a skilled team and improve operational systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years’ overall experience in yacht management.
  • Expert knowledge of ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, MLC & STCW.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

General Job Description

The head of yacht operation will be responsible for the overall supervision of the fleet of yachts, supervising daily activities, compliance, operation, budgets and reporting. She/He will be responsible of a team of highly skilled specialists: yacht managers, crew managers and administrators, compliance manager and yacht administrators. Responsibility to provide reporting and assistance to the clients as/when required. Part of the role will also involve direct operational management of certain yachts, as primary point of contact between the vessel and the Owner’s representatives. She/He will work in the South of France or Hamburg, Germany office under direct supervision and reporting to the Managing Director.

Requirements
  • Sea-going experience in a senior deck rank position (yacht or passenger ship).
  • Ideally track record experience in yacht management, shore based.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years’ overall experience. • Expert knowledge of ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, MLC & STCW. Previous auditing and surveying experience is a must.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, diplomacy skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels (dealing with Owners, Captains, suppliers and various stakeholders).
  • Effective solution finding, autonomous, disciplined and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Able to perform under stressful situations, involving multicultural environment and diverse topics.
  • General technical knowledge of large yachts and their operation.
  • Excellent knowledge of budget aspects and financial reporting.
  • Team leader and team player.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficiency in other languages will be an advantage.
  • Good sense of humour.
