Head of Accounting – Paris

Private Equity

We are looking for a Head of Accounting to lead and structure our Accounting function in Paris. This is a key leadership role within the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of all financial information while supporting the company’s growth and operational excellence.

As Head of Accounting, you will oversee the full accounting cycle, manage and develop the accounting team, and work closely with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and external partners to ensure robust processes, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Your Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, ensuring strong performance, clear objectives, and a culture of ownership and collaboration.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and structuring of the department in line with company growth.

Accounting Operations

• Supervise all accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and intercompany reconciliation.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under French GAAP (and IFRS if applicable).
• Oversee statutory accounts, consolidation processes, and audit preparation.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with French regulations, tax requirements, statutory reporting, and internal policies.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks.
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.

Process, Systems & Continuous Improvement

• Drive the optimisation and digitalisation of accounting processes, tools, and workflows.
• Partner with IT and Finance to improve ERP usage and data automation.
• Improve the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of the accounting function as the company grows.

Business Partnership

• Collaborate closely with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and business leaders to support strategic decision-making.
• Provide clear, accurate financial insights and guidance to senior management.
• Support M&A activities, integration work, and group-level financial initiatives where required.

Your Profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent; ideally DSCG / DEC or equivalent certification.
• 8+ years of experience in accounting, including time in a leadership role.
• Strong technical knowledge of French GAAP; IFRS and consolidation experience is a strong plus.
• Proven experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-growth, or international environment.
• Excellent command of accounting systems (ERP experience required; Netsuite, SAP, Sage or Oracle is a plus).
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver accurately under strict deadlines.
• Fluent in French and professional level English.
