Overview

This role is part of the global procurement and operations legal team and supports Pernod Ricard’s procurement and operations functions, with a focus on direct and indirect procurement, supply chain, innovation, S&R, Tech and related operational matters. Reporting to the Global Operations Senior Legal Manager, you will work in partnership with other lawyers, procurement and operations professionals and other key stakeholders throughout the Pernod Ricard group globally.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

Responsibilities
  • Direct and indirect procurement, supply chain: provide legal support on direct procurement (primary, secondary and tertiary product packaging), indirect procurement (POS, VAPS, and various business services) and supply chain logistics for the brand company, HQ and central procurement teams. This includes regulatory and contractual problem solving, legal support for supplier disputes and responding to queries from these teams.
  • Innovation and S&R: provide legal support and guidance to fast-moving group R&I (product development, breakthrough innovation) and S&R (carbon emissions, circular economy initiatives, packaging compliance and adherence to regulation) functions.
  • Contracts: draft/revise, review, advise on and negotiate various commercial contracts in partnership with procurement specialists and multiple other stakeholders across the global business.
  • RFx activity: support procurement exercises – including preparing RFx materials, negotiating with event participants, assessing participant submissions, reporting to and advising the procurement teams and helping manage the award of business (including localisation and associated documentation). This includes use and continuous optimisation of the group’s e-procurement and contract/matter management systems, e-signing tools and other digital solutions.
  • External legal service provider management: liaise with and coordinate external legal service providers to ensure high quality and cost-effective services as needed.

In coordination with other members of our global legal team, you and the legal support hub will also be responsible for :

  • Regulatory landscape: assist in monitoring global regulatory trends and assess potential impacts within the procurement, supply chain, innovation, S&R and Tech scope.
  • Special projects: contribute to the management and delivery of our “special projects” (such as development of content for our online facilities & digital self-service legal tools).
  • Consulting: support in advising key stakeholders, including brand legal directors, on legal risk and strategy, and keeping them informed of relevant activities.
  • Communication & training: communicate with the wider business (including Pernod Ricard HQ, brand companies, external advisers and other departments) and provide training where required.
  • Records & reports: keep accurate and up-to-date records of all contracts, cases and projects and prepare regular reports on legal matters for key stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement: maintain procurement-and-operations related legal templates and tools and support a continuous improvement strategy.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements
  • 3–6 years of experience in commercial legal roles, gained in a law firm and/or in-house, ideally with exposure to procurement, supply chain, technology, or other commercial contracts. Strong practical legal and contractual expertise is essential.
  • Practical experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships and collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders and suppliers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Solid commercial awareness, analytical capability and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to embrace new ways of working, continuous improvement and digital transformation, including use of contract lifecycle management systems, e-procurement platforms and other digital tools.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, with guidance from more senior colleagues where needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (French and/or Spanish would be a plus).
  • A aptitude for agile learning (extending beyond law to include technical, operational, commercial and fiscal matters).
  • Curiosity and openness to learning about technology-related legal matters, including IT procurement, digital tools and data-related considerations, as they apply to the role.
Other and working arrangements
  • You will be subject to the policies applying to staff at your primary location, including flexible working policies. Some flexibility may be required to collaborate across time zones. Occasional travel domestically and abroad may be required.
