A humanitarian aid organization is seeking an experienced Area Manager based in Lyon, France. This role involves ensuring the successful execution of projects and management of teams in challenging humanitarian contexts. Responsibilities include contributing to operational strategies, leading emergency interventions, and fostering compliance with organizational policies. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience, strong English skills, and the ability to work autonomously in insecure areas.

This is a call for applicants interested into joining our pool of Operations and/or Area Managers in one of our 50 countries programmes around the world. Depending on the set up of the mission:
Under the responsibility of the Program Director you as the Area Manager contribute within the country where you are based to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Handicap International. You ensure optimal quality and impact of the projects implemented in the country through a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms. You share with all HI managers the responsibility of a sound management and successful functioning of the global organization through paradigm chain.

At HI the conditions offered are up to your commitment and adapted to the context of your mission. The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:
The per diem and the hardship allowances will depend on the country of the mission.
Paid leaves: 25 days per year;
R&R: according to the level of the mission possible transport/package support.
Depending on the security level of the mission the position can be open to couple or family (as from 12 months of mission) with associated package.
If you are resident in the country we will offer a local package.
