The McGill University Department of Anesthesia in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The successful candidate will be based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC)—a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The MUHC is a world‑renowned tertiary care institution that offers a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment that fosters clinical excellence, innovative teaching, and research opportunities.
The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Anesthesia. They are an experienced anesthesiologist with recognized expertise in interventional pain management. The incumbent will have extensive experience in chronic and interventional pain medicine, with a strong record of academic engagement, clinical leadership, and teaching. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in ultrasound‑and fluoroscopy‑guided pain procedures, such as nerve and plexus blocks, radiofrequency ablation, epidural and sympathetic interventions, vertebral augmentation, and neuromodulation techniques. Relevant experience in developing or directing pain fellowship programs and mentoring trainees will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will join the Adult Pain Management Unit (AEPMU) of the MUHC and contribute primarily to clinical interventional pain services, as well as to the department’s educational and research missions.

Although the primary focus of the position is pain medicine, the successful candidate will also contribute a limited portion of their clinical activity to general adult anesthesia practice as required by departmental needs. The successful candidate will also be expected to be involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
