Overview

Overview of the Department / Section

The Finance and Accounting Department is responsible for MUFG Bank Ltd Paris Branch’s financial / statistical reporting and tax declarations and obligations. As the banking industry is constantly evolving, the team work closely with the front and back office as well as other Infrastructure functions to ensure the branch’s ability to meet local and head office compliance. Locally, the team reports directly to the Branch Management; functionally, the team reports to the Regional CFO in London.

Main Purpose of the Role

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Production of group and local financial statements including submission
  • Preparation of financial information pack for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assistance during annual and tax audits
  • Operational ownership of Finance-owned applications, including maintenance and enhancement of reference data and reports
  • Monitoring of regulatory and tax changes
Key Responsibilities
  • Book-keeping : data entry in the accounting ledger; perform daily control checks, distribute & file daily listings
  • Controls and reconciliations : perform monthly nostro and suspense accounts reconciliations; investigate and follow up with internal data providers where required; ensure balances are substantiated by appropriated supporting documentation.
  • Financial reporting : Prepare financial / management reports, regulatory and tax declarations or ad-hoc reports, in an accurate, compliant, value-adding and timely manner.
  • Stakeholder management : respond to queries or requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Efficiencies : collaborate with Finance team and all other business lines to promote continuous improvement, identify or propose tactical / strategic solutions and process optimisation.
  • Provide group and local project support : new report requirement, system or application enhancements, process changes etc and update key operating documents / key control checklists as required..
  • Adhere to the Bank’s books of instructions, procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements where appropriate implementing actions to protect the Bank’s business at all times.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience with a global / international financial services organization, in a similar role.
Skills and Experience

Functional / Technical Competencies :

  • Accounting Principles : A strong understanding of basic principles of accounting
  • Knowledge of Banking Industry : banking products, transaction flows and controls is a plus
  • French Tax Landscape : awareness of tax obligations, knowledge of transfer price is a plus
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to analyse financial data and identify trends
  • IT Proficiency : Knowledge of any accounting software, excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Language Proficiency : French and English, oral and written
  • Stakeholder Management : Able to work in a team, build own network, collaborate and maintain internal and external relationships
  • High awareness of regulatory / tax compliance and controls

Education / Qualifications :

  • University Degree, preferably in Finance and Accounting degree and / or equivalent.
