Your Mission

The mission of the Device Engineering Director for Augmented Beauty Operations is tobuild and lead a team of experienced engineers and, in partnership with Device Contract Manufacturers, industrialize, scale and sustain design solutionsdeveloped by the Research and Innovation team.

You will be the accountable of a smooth transition from design development and engineering prototypes phases to industrial development phases of production, tooling/assembly, industrial prototypes, qualification, testing, pilot and mass production, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and process efficiency.

Your role is crucial in transforming innovations into concrete, high-performing, and sustainable products, by steering the entire operational lifecycle.

Your Responsibilities
  • Position reports to the Head of L'Oréal Augmented Beauty Operations.
  • Location: Paris (local permanent contract), with some travel required.
  • Design for Scale:
    • Provide essential "Design Inputs" for Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability Testing, and Service, ensuring devices are designed for efficient production, field performance, maintenance and recycle.
    • Manage Production Tool and Assembly Line Commissioning.
    • Define Assembly Line Test Specifications.
    • Optimize Line Capacity and Yield.
    • Qualify Manufacturing process, Components and Final Assembly.
    • Oversee Pilot, Ramp-up, and Run Production Management.
    • Meet Launch timelines.
    • Implement continuous design improvements with effective doc control and change management for enhanced quality, performance, and cost reduction.
    • Proactively manage Component End-of-Life to minimize production impacts.
  • Industry 4.0 Technology Surveillance: Actively monitor Industry 4.0 technologies to identify and integrate relevant innovations for operational optimization.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and coach engineers, fostering their skill development and commitment to operational objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&I, Marketing, Sourcing, Quality and other Operations functions to ensure seamless integration and achievement of business goals.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal and external regulations and standards for all activities under your responsibility.
Who You Are
  • Results-Focused Leader: Demonstrate strong leadership, high initiative, and a strong service orientation.
  • Proven Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in Design and Manufacturing Engineering of electronic devices or equivalent.
  • Team Management: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in managing a team, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively in cross-functional environments.
  • Strategic Influence: Proficient at influencing internal and external business stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of device design, manufacturing processes, product and component qualification, and Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated problem-solving abilities to address complex issues innovatively and efficiently.
  • Autonomy and Agility: Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills.
