SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the SFA team on the development of Structured Finance Advisory activities in Europe for Real Assets. The Financial Advisory Hub is responsible for providing strategic debt advisory services to CA-CIB clients in the main sectors of expertise of GFD, defining the optimal debt structure to CA-CIB's clients, including different financing products / alternatives.
Structured Financial Advisory Services
- Debt raising: assist CA-CIB clients to raise new debt (senior, subordinated) for a precise purpose (acquisition, financing of a greenfield project or other) taking into account its particular needs and market environment.
- Debt refinancing: assist CA-CIB clients to structure a debt refinancing taking into account the business plan of the Borrower and potential constraints (syndicate composition, market, other).
- General debt advisory services: assist CA-CIB clients to evaluate the most adequate financing structure in a specific situation.
Key Responsibilities
- Origination and execution of financial advisory assignments for the bank's clients.
- Support the development of the strategy for advisory in Europe.
- Develop and maintain existing advisory relationships with key clients and originate advisory mandates.
- Prepare proposals and client pitches.
- Prepare presentations addressing key aspects of advisory assignments.
- Develop alternative financing plans and strategies (ECAs, multilaterals, relevant debt capital markets and, in some circumstances, specialised Governmental institutions).
- Assist in reviewing the bankability of key commercial contracts with Sponsor's legal counsel (EPC, CFDs, PPAs etc).
- Prepare and supervise financial modelling exercise.
- Preparation of information memoranda (IMs).
- Commission and manage consultants' due diligence.
- Assistance in the preparation and review of detailed financing term sheets with Sponsor's legal counsel.
- Assist with negotiating financing proposals from a range of financing sources.
- Cultivate a network of industry contacts (lawyers, consultants, banks, ECAs/MLAs, rating agencies, etc.).
- Identify and secure opportunities to cross‑sell the bank's products including M&A, bank loans, risk management / derivatives, capital markets, etc.
Reporting & Background
The candidate will report to the Head of SFA Iberia and will have a broad ERA / CLF sectorial background, including Real Estate, Transportation, Power (incl. Renewables), Infrastructure and Telecoms. A strong background in modelling and supervision of junior resources in deal execution is required.
Debt advisory services may be carried out in cooperation with other Advisory Teams within the bank and in coordination with Sector Heads.
Strong interpersonal skills, international experience, and cooperation with GIB, CLF, and GMD are highly valued.
Special Experience Requirements
- Experience with debt instruments (recourse and non‑recourse).
- Experience with Project Finance / Real Estate / LBO structuring techniques.
- Experience across key sectors: Real Estate, Transportation, Infrastructure, Power, and TMT.
- Judgemental coordination and assessment of advisor's services (Due Diligence process).
- Knowledge of capital markets mechanics (bond structuring, rating agencies procedures, etc.).
- Modelling skills.
- Negotiation and documentation of legal documents (financing contracts, mandate letters, etc.).
- Knowledge of European Project Finance / Real Estate / Telecoms and transportation sector trends.
- Experience with banks and sponsors active in the European Structured Finance market.
- Knowledge of risk identification, analysis and mitigation techniques.
- Knowledge of legal regimes applicable to available debt instruments.
- General knowledge of national and international economy and finance, and accounting and tax principles.
Qualifications / Education Required
Superior degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or similar.
Fluent in English.
Experience
5–9 years of relevant work experience.
Specialist Training Required
Training on Investment Banking tools (Structured Finance, Project Finance, Corporate Finance, etc.).
